Welcome to CROSSROADS BASEBALL   July 14, 2008   CROSSROADS SWEEPS GWBL    Eagles, Cougars and Storm take league titles.   An exciting season came to a close this evening, as the Junior Cougars (15-1) captured the 2008 League title, defeating the Finland Cardinals, 10-8.  After losing to the Cardinals in the winner's bracket final, the Cougars dispatched our Flyers in the third place game, setting up their two game sweep in the finals.   The Storm (24-1) also advanced from the loser's bracket to win the coach pitch crown.  Suffering their only loss of the season to the Finland Mariners, 4-3, in the winner's bracket  the Storm knocked out our  Jets, then run ruled the Mariner's twice to reign as kings of the GWBL.   The Senior Eagles (16-4, est) took the easier route, winning four straight, the capper a 11-1 drubbing of the Georgian Heights Red Hawks.   In all, we had no team finish lower than fifth in the post season tournaments.    The Junior Flyers, after working hard through a 4-6 regular season, went 4-2 in the post season, to finish 8-8 overall.    The Senior Jets also made some noise in the tournament, winning three before bowing out in a hotly contested, protested, resumed, and again contested contest to the Red Hawks.    The Coach Pitch Jets capped at 20-6 season by finishing third in the tournament.  This team played many close, competitive games, with five of their six losses coming to The Storm.   The very young Junior Jets finished 9-8 on the season.  After a slow start, the team realed off six straight wins, and lost a 6-4 heartbreaker to Westgate Green to end their season.   CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL TEAMS FOR EXCELLENT SEASONS.
